360-Degree Holographic Display

Researchers at USC have taken another step towards that holiest of sci-fi dreams: the 3D holographic display. Using a spinning mirror covered with a "holographic diffuser," a special DVI implementation, and a high-speed projector, the team's device can project a three-dimensional image that can be viewed from 360 degrees -- regardless of the viewer's height and distance. That's impressive, but that spinning mirror looks pretty dangerous. Check a video of the system in action after the break.

iPhone SLR mount

As photographer Chase Jarvis once said, "The best camera is the one that's with you." And, thanks to smartphones such as the iPhone and Android devices, many people alwayshave a camera with them. These cameras are constantly getting better, too--the original iPhone shipped with a 2-megapixel camera, while the more recent iPhone 4 is being hailed for its dramatically improved 5-megapixel camera. And rumor has it that the next iPhone's camera (8 megapixels?) will be even better.
Still, there's always room for improvement. If you're looking to take your iPhone photos to the next level, check out this collection of must-have iPhone camera accessories--including heavy-duty camera stabilizers, 360-degree lenses, SLR mounts, and a flexible tripod. And for non-iPhone users, there's even a set of universal external lenses: Check it out.

Alienware Mobile Phone design built on Android

Take a look at these images of an Alienware mobile phone that would be built on the Android platform. it possesses has the familiar look of the Alienware computers with a glowing grill when calls come in and a a slide-up display to reveal a touch-sensitive keypad and a joystick for mobile gaming right in the middle. We can’t disagree that this phone might be the most popular design with hardcore gamers and Star Trek fans, but probably not the biggest hit on the market. Of course we’re eager to see any phone running Android and this one is no exception, but these look to be just designs for now.
