Cardok Elevator

So if you’ve recently come into money you’re probably in one of the stages of pimping out your estate. You might read this site for inspiration in the occasional luxury item we feature. So here’s one more: the Cardok lift system will take your vehicles and hide them underground. You can get the Mono version, which hides just one car and makes your driveway look empty. Or you can get the Multi which are either double length, double width or even double height. These systems can accommodate around 10 tons (22,400 lbs) in combined weight, which should be enough for even a couple of Hummers.

Opulence has its price of course, so the Mono Cardok is around $61,000 while the Multi is $72,000. It’s a UK company so they might only do their work there, but if you’ve got the cash to throw around we’re sure they might be willing to talk. And of course, if you’re going to be that flashy, make sure your car matches.

The iPhone Photo Printer

This is the compact printer that produces photo quality pictures directly from a docked iPhone (including iPhone 5) or iPod touch. Requiring no computer or software, the printer is controlled from your iPhone via a free downloadable app. In less than a minute and without ink cartridges, it prints crystal-clear 300 dpi resolution pictures with vibrant colors, thanks to patented paper embedded with yellow, magenta, and cyan dye crystals. The photographs are smudge- and tear-proof, fade- and water-resistant. The printer can produce one, four, or 10 images on each 4" x 6" borderless sheet. Occupying no more desktop area than a box of tissues, the printer also charges a docked iPhone or iPod touch. Also connects to Android phones (requires mini-USB cable), and iPads. Comes with one thermal paper cartridge that makes 12 prints. Plugs into AC. 4" H x 7" W x 6" D.

55 Inch Widescreen Personal Movie Theater

This is the only personal media viewer that provides a private viewing experience equivalent to watching a widescreen 55" television from 10' away. It connects to a video iPod, iPod Touch, iPhone, portable DVD player, or personal video game system and uses two high-resolution LCDs and dual stereo noise isolating earphones. Developed from U.S. military technology, the viewer generates 24-bit true color (16 million colors) and a 27º field of view for wide pictures, and the removable earphones produce crisp, clear sound. The LCDs provide 428 x 240 resolution, and may be focused individually from +2 to -5 diopters. Nose piece adjusts for custom fit. Includes two AA batteries that provides up to six hours of continuous operation. Includes iPod cable, A/V cable, and carrying case.

Super widescreen

LG's 29-inch EA93 monitor may not be the largest screen at its IFA hall, but the super-wide 21:9 IPS display is still pretty unusual. Big enough for several full-sized spreadsheets or browser pages, the monitor includes a screen-splitting feature that automatically resizes windows on the screen, giving you up to four panels with several custom options. Depending on your needs, the EA93 may be able to replace some dual-monitor setups, and widescreen videos watched on it are very wide indeed — resolution is 2560 x 1080. That said, we're not sure exactly when it goes on sale or how much it might sell for. There's not an official launch date, though we're told that the EA93 will launch in January along with its companion, the more traditional-looking 27-inch IPS EA83. The EA83 will sell for around 800 euros, while no price is given for the widescreen monitor.

Cell Phone Glove

I love this project by Milwaukee artist Bryan Cera. Called Glove One, it’s a mobile phone in glove form. The project page is fairly sparse, but Bryan says a DIY tutorial is forthcoming. [via Ponoko, which has a great interview.]

Magical Transparent Fireplace

The beauty of the Electrolux Fireplace is that it stands out as this opaque ceramic column that slowly turns translucent to transparent, as the flames flare up. Upon cooling down the column goes back to being the white shaft it was. Kinda like now-you-see-it-now-you-don’t. Maybe the impending winter has something to do with it, but I think this design is awesome! The video is cool too.
